The State Houses of Parliament in Melbourne is where Victoria State’s legislative council is based. This historic building has housed the state parliament continuously since the middle of the 19th century from 1855, except the period from 1901 to1927 when it was occupied by the Australian National Parliament. The State Houses of Parliament are known to be one of the finest exponents of 19th century British civic architecture any where in the world.

Over the years the way we take our vacations has changed greatly, especially over the past 10 - 15 years with the increase in the amount of holidays being booked direct with the destination online via the inter web as well as the increase in the amount of low cost airline that are now operating. We are also more open to trying new holiday experiences with adventure holidays such as mountain trekking and jungle camping becoming more and more popular each year. It seems to be that just because we can now do something then we have to do it. Destinations such as Antarctica are becoming more popular each year, much to the dismay of the conservationists. As well as these factors many holidays have been re-invented to try to not only win back market share but to also try to create new and exciting holiday experiences for people. Some of these ideas are based on the traditional family holiday but are also aimed at the changing demo-graphic of society as more and more of us are staying single for longer or not having children until older, so what are these new holiday ideas and who do they suit most?

Although the sailing season in the South Eastern Mediterranean runs from mid-May to the end of October, there is still significant demand from European sailors for charters in waters warm during the long, cold Northern winter.
Traditionally the Caribbean has been the main beneficiary of this. The British have tended to go to the ex-colonies - the Virgin Islands, Antigua, and Grenada. This always has two problems. Travel costs are high and/or inflexible, and the area is equally popular with North Americans to the point that it gets very crowded. Getting there from the USA is seriously cheap and easy, and there is little or no time difference.

Much to my surprise US Civilian employees do not get the same benefits and tax breaks given those in the private sector. While all the housing and travel allowances are not taxable there Danger Pay, Post Allowance and Post Differential is fully taxable. In addition, their overtime is capped and their overall pay reduced to not exceed that of a GS15 level.
They get a step increase in my husband’s case is to a GS12 level and the differentials since they appear on their W-2 are counted toward the “high 3″ in calculating their retirement.
