Little Italy In Baltimore, Maryland Special Events And Restaurants Part 1

Little Italy is a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland situated east of the Inner Harbor. The city’s busiest restaurant districts are in Little Italy. During the 19th and 20th century, a large number of Italian immigrant families moved into the area, which is how it got the name of Little Italy. Today, this neighborhood is still home to a tight knit, large and active Italian ethnic community.
Special Events in Little Italy
Open Air Italian Film Festival
The Little Italy Restaurant Association and Maryland’s Department of Business and Economic Development hold an Open Air Italian Film Festival on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in July and August.
The festival held in Little Italy of Baltimore, Maryland, presents 9 feature length films beginning at the intersection of High and Stiles Street in the open-air amphitheater style. All screenings are free and open to the public. Folding chairs are provided. You can also bring your own lawn chairs. There are large crowds that gather at the corner of High and Stiles Streets to enjoy an Italian meal and a free movie.
The Taste of Little Italy
The Taste of Little Italy takes place annually in the fall. Little Italy Restaurant Association member restaurants serve their specialties. There is Italian music, dancing, beer, and wine served under a big tent. They also feature a “Miss Little Italy Pageant,” and the “Pasta-Eating Contest.” Music is by “Aldo and the Composers.”
Christmas tree Lighting Ceremony
The Little Italy Restaurant Association members’ annual event calendar closes with the “Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.” Caroling at the restaurants is performed by the Baltimore Choral Arts Society.

Ald’s Ristorante Italiano
